A true Texas institution, as is the biergarten at the Auschlander in Fredericksburg, TX.

My Florida surburlet was developed by a German industrialist, and there's a little of that influence around- competition pools that are 25 meters long instead of 25 yards, a good set-up for volksmarching, the local Kiwanis club has an Octoberfest as its fundraiser every September, and a smallish biergarten & German restaurant over by the Subway and Winn-Dixie.

I've been to the one at the Standard - good times.

I love the Bohemian Hall Beer Garden! Excellent beers , good food (limited menu, not the same quality as the beers, but very edible), great atmosphere; I try to get there almost every time I'm in NYC.

No need to drive there; the N train has a stop two blocks from it.

You don't have to be drunk to get a DUI.

I am pleasantly surprised to see the interest in biergartens that actually serve authentic German fare. In the US, the German restaurant have been dying out for 20 years. Hopefully the Biergartens resurrect the cuisine/experience.

My in-laws frequent the one in PIT on a regular basis. However, they've never suggested meeting us there for dinner when we're in town to visit my parents.

When I was 20, my sister lived in Cincy, and hosted Easter at her apartment. That Saturday, we (parents, grandmother, sister, and roommates) ventured to the Cincy location, where I wasn't carded.
