Clean-up in aisle 7. Looks like a big puddle of drool.

Why didn't you wait a week and go to ZBF/Great Thirst?

And hommel bier instead of more Westy?

Logistical reasons. Also, the main purpose of this trip was visiting battlefields.

I have two and a half cases of 8 and two cases of 12 in my cellar. I think I am good on the Westy.

I was just at Costco (Orland Park, IL) and saw that they have a decent selection of bombers/750s for the first time. Also some ciders. Previously they often had a couple, but today I saw:

Galaxy-Hero
Revolution Double Fist
Goose Island Matilda and Sofie
Ballast Point Sculpin
Stone Arrogant .......
Punk IPA
Firestone Wookey Jack
Ten Ninety Imperial Porter
Dogfish Noble Rot
Strawman Angry Orchard
Yeti Imperial Stout
La Fin du Monde
J.K's Scrumpy Hard Cider
Crispin
Tripel Karmeliet
Chimay Blue
Allagash Curieux
2013 Limited fresh hop hommel bier
Duchesse de Bourgogne
Maya
Saison DuPont
Lindemans Framboise Lambic
Delirium Tremens
Gran Missionario
Sam Adams Stony Brook Red
Breury Mischief
Brother Thelonious
One Abbey Tripel

And the 4-pack of Stone bombers for $16:

Stone IPA
Self-Righteous
Arrogant .......
Imperial Stout

Progress!

As of about an hour ago...2014 Three Floyd's Dark Lord. It joins a few bottles from 2013, 2012 and 2011. Not the best weather compared to other DLDs I've attended, but not the worst, either. Each year 3F seems to do a better job of managing the crowds, though they seemed to psych people out with the line this year by adding more back-and-forth once you stepped into the north side of the warehouse.

Light beer?

You had me going until you got to Coors Light. That is really not worth the aluminum it comes in. beeradvocate.com gives it a awful rating. If you must drink light beer try Sam Adams Light, it gets a good rating. Do a side by side taste test and you will see why it is the better choice. Just saying.

I love the fall, if only because it makes me want to crack a nice stout when I sit down at the TV or computer after a long day at work and putting the kids to bed. This is also the time of year when a lot of the more experimental seasonal brews are released by the craft brewers. So, in a gut check to organize my nightly selection and in anticipation of some nice drinks over the next few months, here's what I have in my beer fridge right now:

Left over from summer:

Simpler Times Lager (best canned six-pack $2.99 can buy; thanks, Trader Joe) (WI) - 12 oz can
Butternuts Heinnieweisse Weissebier (NY) - 12 oz can
Great Divide Samurai Ale (CO) - 12 oz bottle
Great Divide Belgica IPA (best new beer I've tasted all year) (CO) - 12 oz bottle
Coors Light (nothing wrong with a macro apres-lawn mowing) (CO) - 12 oz widemouth can

Fall:

Mayflower Porter (MA) - 12 oz bottle
Berkshire Drayman's Porter (MA) - 22 oz bottle
Berkshire Coffehouse Porter (MA) - 22 oz bottle
Berkshire Imperial Stout (MA) - 22 oz bottle
Steelhead Scotch Porter (Mad River - CA) - 12 oz bottle
Victory Festbier (PA) - 12 oz bottle

All American, craft brewed.

What's in yours?

I am not a Coors Light fan either, but after mowing the lawn they can be very refreshing.

Best tasting beer I ever had was a Budweiser. I was 21 and working construction and had just finished up an eight hour day on a house tear down. The owner handed me a Bud at quitting time...ahhhhhhhhh nothing like it.

Only some Tiger Radler.

u2fan May 3, 2014 5:37 am

Some 'Galactic Double Daisy Cutter':

In addition, about this time last year, I was in Brussels where I was able to purchase 6 bottles of '50n4e': will probably move one to the fridge.
