Shiner Ruby Redbird season is fast approaching as well. In fact, summer may hit the Panhandle before the Redbird shows up. So, I'll make do with the Lineys until it does.

Somehow a 6-pack of Molson ended up in my fridge last night. It's gone now.

My favourite beer bar is Rattle n Hum. In Manhattan, maybe around 33rd or 34th and 5th Ave.

Excellent selection

Excellent recommendation. The Gingerman is even better. 11 E. 36th St., between 5th and Madison. Three Monkeys would be my third choice, followed by Blind Tiger and Pony Bar.

Been to Gingerman, I would recommend that as another great spot to visit. Close to Rattle n Hum, no reason to not do both!

Any good advice on local NYC beers (and beer-bars)?

The recommendations you are getting are very solid, but no one mentioned 'Torst' - maybe because it is in Brooklyn. This place has a northern European feel: its owner is also the founder of 'Evil Twin Brewing' and Torst always seems to have 2-3 of his beers on tap.

I am not the only one who likes the place.

Other recommendations:

If you are in the neighborhood (Lower East Side), 'Top Hops'. is good. It is a bottle shop with a good draft beer selection and a small bar with a few tables and chairs. For a fee, you can pick any bottle in the place, so the selection can not be beat. 'New Beer Distributors' a store, is a couple blocks away and is worth visiting.

'Good Beer', another bottle shop is fairly close (Easy Village). I never stay but several times have purchased a bottle and walked down the street drinking it: in this neighborhood, I fit right in.

Just got back from the annual trip to Belgium. Nothing too spectacular this time.
