Incidentally, I was amazed by their McCafe selections there which included macraon cookies and other treats.

In France Micky D's had a larger selection of coffees and desserts, including macaron and pastries, as well as a different type of ordering system.

While in Europe we saw the 1955 burger a lot, found it interesting.

I remember those. Not the tastiest lobster roll I have ever had but pretty darn good for the cost. Had them 25-30 years ago as a kid and than I had to stop with my wife 15 years ago for her to try since she didn't believe me :) Glad they still have them (well at least in 2009- date of post)

McDonald's, Caleta de Fuste, Fuerteventura, Spain, Our Visit Feb. 2016

It's the only McDonald's outlet on the island. :)

Sometimes we go to McDonalds and it’s quite interesting to see what is on offer in foreign countries, so we used the chance to have lunch at the only McDonalds on Fuerteventura which is located in Caleta de Fuste.

It was on a Sunday in February 2016 when we visited. The branch was really busy and we had to wait around 25 minutes to have our order taken. There was a bit of a language barrier, but in the end we got what we wanted.

Of course the restaurant was really full. Cleanliness suffered a bit.

We had 2 orange juices, 2 Big Love (A heart shaped hamburger), Chicken McNuggets and 2 McFlurries with Nutella Brownies. While the burger wasn’t to our taste, we loved the rest.

Next time when staying in Caleta de Fuste we will visit again, but preferable during the week.

Would we want to visit this outlet again in our future? YES! ^
Would we recommend a visit to this outlet to friend? YES, it’s unique on Fuerteventura. ^

McD is test-marketing "Gilroy Garlic Fries" in a few stores in the San Jose area. Fries are seasoned to order in a bowl with garlic, olive oil and herbs.

The shrimp burger, assuming it is the same as Japan's Ebi-burger, is the second worst. Japan's McDs are still overall the best I've tried anywhere.

Mrs Mapleg actually likes the shrimp burger (Japan). I will admit it is edible (barely) but certainly not the best offering.

I do recall years ago a Ringo Burger at Burger King in Tokyo. Normal burger but with a slice of grilled apple and a little cinnamon on it. Sound bad, but was delicious.

Do you know which ones?

I decided to search out these Gilroy Garlic Fries and found the following, below is a list of dishes that are currently being tested at regional McDonald's locations:

Egg White and Turkey Sausage Breakfast Bowl (California)
Scrambled Egg and Chorizo Breakfast Bowl (California)
Gilroy Garlic Fries (California)
Chobani Greek Yogurt in McDonald's Fruit 'N Yogurt Parfaits and McCafé Smoothies (California)
Chicken McNuggets without artificial preservatives (Oregon)
Grand Mac, which is a Big Mac with a bigger bun and patties (Ohio & Texas)
Mac Jr., which is a Big Mac without the middle bun and only one patty (Ohio & Texas)
Chicken McGriddle, a McChicken on maple-flavored pancakes instead of a bun (Ohio)
Mighty Wings (Atlanta)
Sweet Potato Fries (Texas)

Has anyone had any of these? I'll be in ATL in a couple of weeks, just might have to give it a try.

I used to work at MickeyD's back in the 80's and 90's. We tried Big Mac's using 1/4 lb. patties instead of the smaller 1/10 lb. patties called the Super Mac. The main feedback was that it was too dry (not enough sauce) compared to a regular Big Mac. I personally liked it. Today, when I order a Big Mac, I take off the crown of the bun and flip the top layer over the bottom layer. Basically it becomes a Double Cheeseburger with Mac Sauce and lettuce instead of mustard and ketchup.

Mighty Wings have been a seasonal item throughout the country as the demand seems to fall off about 6-8 weeks of reintroducing them. They first debuted in the late 80's or early 90's in South Florida and were brought back a few years ago when Miami last hosted a Super Bowl.

One seasonal item I wish they would they would bring back is the Cheddar Melt which was a Quarter Pounder on a Rye Bun with Cheddar Cheese Sauce and Grilled Onions.

That's basically the McKinley Mac that is served at McDonalds in Alaska--a Big Mac but made with the Quarter Pounder's patties. I don't think I've ever tried it myself, so I can't comment on the execution.

ETA: Aha, as I suspected (I haven't paid attention), coincident with the official renaming of Mt. McKinley as Denali, the burger has also been renamed: http://www.ktva.com/mcdonalds-change...enali-mac-226/

.

That sounds completely revolting.

I presume anyone who likes chicken and waffles (which has a long history in the U.S., particularly the south) wouldn't find the idea of Chicken McGriddles "completely revolting."
