Returned to ATL due to mechanical. New departure time posted as 2330, arriving in LIM 0501. Same crew will continue with the flight

Wow, that's one hell of a diversion. I'm surprised that the crew stayed with the trip.

They did not have an option. They had not yet reached 16:01 on duty, which would have been their option-off point.

Oh btw -- I am speaking about the FA's only. Not sure about the pilot regs on this one...
