F on Embraer 170

Anybody been in first on the Embraer 170? Can you tell me how it was? Too tight?

Quite a few people who post to this forum have been in FC on the Shuttle America E170s.....myself included.

Seat pitch is only 36"....whereas the width seems quite acceptable. IMO, they are quite comfortable seats. Heck, IMO even the coach seats on the E170 are better than almost any other coach seat.

If travelling alone, my preferred seat is 2A.....as it's both a window and an aisle.

Otherwise, 2C/D fits the bill.

The other 3 FC seats (row 1) are essentially bulkhead seats.......which I have managed to avoid so far.

I would really like to try FC in the CRJ-900 in order to personally make comparison of the two aircraft.

Has anyone else done that yet?

A.J.

I have sat in F and it was pretty nice, not expecting anyhting great, but a nice surprise. I have also been in coach on this plane and it was surprisingly roomy compared to an MD 88 or 737. Nice airplane!

I have also been in first and coach on this plane. First is nice, and so is coach. The seats are also very comforable.

It is a very nice ride! 2A is probably the best seat, but all FC seats on this equipment are fine. The first row does have a bulkhead in front of it, but it is not bad. The flight is staffed with two FA's which results in fairly good service due to the 2 FA to 69 passengers.

No Video or audio, nor empower on these planes, but they are a HUGE improvement over the Bombardier CRJ 40/50/70 seater. Coach seats are just fine. Shuttle America flying for DL does NOT provide meal service in FC. In chatting with the FA, he said that when they fly that equipment for UA, meal service is provided in FC.

DL has been using this equipment to fly Cmh - Slc which is around a 3+ hour flight. Pleasant, but a meal would be nice.

Overhead bins do fit a full size roll aboard, and headroom for me (6'4") is good, except in the lavatory.

Once you've flown this aircraft, you will quickly understand why Bombardier has announced plans to lay off 1300+ staff due to the downturn in sales of the CRJ 40/50/70 product. It just can't compete.

I will give the CRJ 90 a try, but I've always thought the Embraer product to be more flier friendly.

Depends on the routes...meal (not hot though) are provided in FC on some Shuttle America-operated flights such as LGA-ORD and LGA-DFW.

Question Don't wanna start a riot....

OK. So, my initial question was how F on the 170 is. Now, for a more involved question.

Flying LGA-ORD, I have the choice of DL, UA, & AA. I will be flying in F. Which airline should I take? They are all priced the same, and they all have flight times that work for me.

Opinions?

Are there differences? Of course. But it is not like choosing UA First vs. SQ First for long-haul. Cold food on DL, hot on UA and I think AA. No IFE on DL or AA, audio (incl. Ch9) on UA, Nicer Marine Air Terminal for DL and CR at ORD while AA & UA have clubs on both ends. Nothing too major in here to really drive a choice.

Go with whichever carrier you are trying to accrue miles on and/or get status on.
