Triple Miles For Travel on Comair; Comair Will Resume Service to 51 Additional Cities

Triple Miles For Travel on Comair; Comair Will Resume Service to 51 Additional Cities in July

Comair today announced that SkyMiles® members will earn triple miles for qualifying Comair flights booked between June 28, 2001, and July 31, 2001, and flown by July 31, 2001. Delta (NYSE: DAL - news) is offering the bonus to recognize passengers' loyalty and patience while Comair temporarily suspended its operations.

SkyMiles members will receive triple the actual miles flown or 1,500 miles for each segment flown, whichever is greater. The bonus will be automatically applied to the member's account and is valid for paid travel on qualifying Comair routes. Customers with reservations for travel on Comair during the SkyMiles bonus promotional period that were booked prior to June 28, 2001, will qualify for this bonus.

Initially, Comair will serve 26 cities on July 2, 2001, with at least one flight per day. The following are tentative start-up dates only and are subject to change:

Is that triple base miles or base + bonus?

Interesting, I don't see Islip ISP anywhere on the startup list. Perhaps we're just gone.

Seems pretty clear that the extra miles are bonus miles. The word "bonus" is used five times in the press release and the term "bonus miles" is included in the terms and conditions. Nowhere does the term "base" or anything similar appear in the release.

Patience, patience. From the same press release:
  • "Service to additional cities will be announced in coming weeks."
