Customer Commitment
Here is my latest experience when trying to book a reservation from DEN to LAX through DL's reservation desk. When I try to book the same fare through Travelocity, Expedia and ITN, I get a fare of $137 including taxes and Delta's reservation desk says that the minimum fare available is $300.
I am not blaming Delta here, because there might be restrictions to $137 fare, but am wondering that if the travel agencies are offeing that fare, how can Delta not? Isn't it DL's customer care statement to give lowest fare available when making reservations? DL's website shows a fare of $286 for the same flights
Just wondering......

Maybe ITN etc....can't book the ticket (No availability....programming flaw...not enough advance purchase?) If you know that they can book that fare, then I would get DL on the phone and ask them to sort it out. Get documentation from both sources and specific times that each documentation happened. I would ask not only for the minute but also the second and do it all twice. I am curious as to what happens if their guarantee is not upheld. Self-imposed rules (which is what I understand them to be) means they can do whatever they want to do.

Are you sure that you can get the fare?
If I see a difference of $163 on a $300 fare I am going to buy it. My experience with Travelocity though has been that when I went through the whole process the fare was not available when I tried to purchase it.
"Bait and Switch" maybe.

I second Magic111. Travelocity is very frustrating when this happens. It's probably Travelocity NOT DL.

I checked travelocity and Expedia and tried to book the tickets. You guys are correct, at the last step I got the message that the fares changed and new fare is so and so, which is same as what Delta quoted me. I guess I owe an apology to Delta.

I just read a newspaper article that according to an airline rep, an online fare search has more capability to find the lowest fares than the search engines used by travel agents such as expedia or travelocity vs. a standard travel agent. The article did not go into detail.
