Robert, even for US/Canada-domestic flights (at least with UA) rules ar different for UA-code-share flights where the carrier is UA, UA-Express, UA-shuttle on one side (full profit of status and bonus-miles) or another UA-partner.
There are some UA-code share flights in that market with Star-Alliance-partners (AC for example): here you status-miles, but no bonus-miles.
And there are some (few) UA-code-share flights in that market with other partners (other than the above): no status and no bonus miles (one example: TWA).

I think the alliance has caused the planned fees for drinks in the Crown Rooms starting Jan 99.
