PowerPort on 763....do I really need to buy an adaptor?

I am taking my laptop on my first BE Intl. flight...I noticed that the Delta website offers an adaptor for purchase ( $120) so that I can use the powerport ... do I really need to buy the adaptor or are there less expensive ways to access the power....

There are less expensive adapters, you might try Ebay.

I bought one at Staples (I Think) a couple of months ago that is an all in one for my Dell. It fits in cars, planes and AC currents for about $90. Brand name was Kensington. It works well and I don 't have to carry a seperate one for the planes.

You can buy iGo Juice at Best Buy, CompUSA ,etc and even now Radio Shack. Alternatively, ebay is a good choice.

I bought mine on ebay right before my trip to HNL this past June. It's a laptop necessity on flights > 3hrs.

I bought mine off eBay this past month...came out to be about $50 including shipping, works in cars, planes, etc. Definetely great for those flights (especially since my battery isn't great), or for riding shotgun on those long car rides. Now, if only I could get internet connections in my car...

I have Sprint PCS Vision. Phone hooks up to laptop at about 56k speeds on Sprint's digital network. Unlimited internet access. It's free with most PCS Vision plans. I've surfed the net from Atlanta to FL (not driving of course.)

I bought mine on Amazon a few months ago. No tax and free shipping made it cheaper than anywhere else (excluding eBay, which I didn't consider).

Do any DL domestic flights have power ports? I've never seen one on my flights, though the times I've had to fly AA they have had them.

The Boeing 767-400 (764) I fly from ATL to SFO has power in First and Coach.

Check out SeatGuru.com for the layout of DL's planes. They put a black dot where power units are located in each cabin. I don't know how accurate they are, but they usually get it right. In the 764, for example, every seat in FC is powered, but I think every two seats in Coach share one outlet.

Any domestic flight that has a BE section will have them as well. Too bad there are not too many of those left.

I bought a power inverter at Circuit City, for 50$. I had an Igo Juice withmy Dell Inspiron 8000, but now got a Precision M60. With the new laptop there is currently no adapter, so the power-inverter is a nice solution.
- Advantage of the power-inverter: Will work with about anything (can charge your cell phone, your portable DVD player, your laptop), Cheaper than the Igo Juice
- Disadvantage when compared to the Igo Juice (not to the adapters only for Car and Aircraft): One more thing to transport.
