I didn't mean to be a troll as maybe some of you took my post to be. I honestly want some insight on this because I'm curious.
To all those that replied to me that they like to get on early due to bin space I agree with you (and I had already said that even). But explain to me why then do I always see people lined up at the gate (even those with higher boarding zones on their tickets carrying only a small hand bag)? It is annoying to have to wade through all these people to get to the gate if you want to talk to the agent or if I have a reason to want to board early. And it happens all the time. Obviously, there are a lof of people anxious to get on that plane for some reason and I really can't fathom why. |
And people describe WN as cattle car -- DL is much more like that than I've ever experienced on WN. Especially on ATL-BDL flights.

Also, another complaint about Regional Carrier flights is that they always block the bulkheads for the gate and the CRC can't open them. This time they fillled them with a bunch of kids, ughh.....

Boarding this morning... 2nd in line waiting for zone 1 boarding to start.
(Why so eager? I have the bulkhead row in FC, and don't want to have to go all the way back to coach to get space in the overhead.) It's two minutes after the gate agent announces "Breezeway boarding will be available after we complete zone 1" and I've got two other FC PAX standing on the blue mat and waving their boarding passes in front of my face trying to get the attention of the GA. |

I absolutley never know where to line up when I'm in F and my BP says Breezeway and Zone 1. This happens every single time for me in ATL: A. If I get in the regular line, (which I think is how it's supposed to work) I risk getting trampled by 2 or 3 people in the Breezeway line trying to beat me to the scanner. The GA always takes them first. B. If I get in the Breezeway line, the GA ignores me and boards PAX from the regular line (which again, is how I think it's supposed to work). Am I just too meek? I hate to play the gender card, but in scenario A, it's always the male pax that try to bump in. |
I saw one DL agent do boarding with Breezeway the CO way. She invited FC and Medallion to come to Breezeway at pre board, or any time during boarding...once the FC/few others were though, she began Zone 1, 2, etc....if someone came to Breezeway (with it on the Boarding Pass) she took theirs, then returned to the regular line.
I love to see common sense at work. Dave |
Now that makes sense.

I can't stand breezeway. I'm usually in F and all of the FO's and GM's push in front when zone 1 is called to get to their terrible coach seats....why??? When I do get coach I wait till about zone 6, I try and minimize my coach seat time. Board F first then open breezeway and that would be fine.

They should board F first but through the Breezeway. This works very well on CO.

I love to see common sense at work. Dave I'm sure someone will ask why I was in line so early and it's because I was in a bulkhead F seat and didn't want my bags back in coach with me swimming upstream to retrieve them. |

Maybe if enough of people post that the concept works correctly on CO, someone with the authority to implement training from DL might finally walk down the concourse and see how to manage the boarding process correctly. It's amazing that DL ripped off the concept from CO but didn't bother to actually learn the concept from CO. The Breezeway should be a courtesy for people who missed Zones 1-3, allowing them to jump in the front of the line, if they want to, once Zone 4 starts boarding. The idea is these better DL customers stand in line a little less time and increase their chances of being able to find space in the overhead bins. The Breezeway is not a replacement for the "Boarding By Zone" process. The Breezeway should be for people who missed their Zone to get on the plane faster, not for people whose Zone has yet to be called to jump ahead. |
