Glad it worked for you! I have yet to see it work for me.

Worked the same way for me Monday at ATL, so it seems like they're getting the bugs worked out.

What works in ATL does not yet work at CVG. Last flight there the other day there were two scanning stands and two lines denoted by markers and tapes. The Breezeway was on the left and the "common folk" line on the right, nearest the podium. As we walked into the Breezeway when the flight was called, the agent called out that we better get over here to the regular line since they had not sent her anyone to help expedite the boarding.

That seems to be fairly much par for the course in CVG and certainly is the rule at most of the outstations where facilitating the great Breezeway enhancement is generally ignored or only erratically practiced.

I've only seen Breezeway utilized properly at ATL for flights with 2 GAs working the boarding queues. On the flight I used it for (ATL-BOS) most users were Medallion members of any class trying to board with F in Zone 1! (I just followed the herd, of course :D)

A curious innovation at the gate that I'm not sure there is a reason for. I'd rather see them upgrade the meals/snacks in F, frankly...do they still ply that dreadful chicken sandwich in F? Give me the cheese and fruit plate for sale in Y instead, thanks!

Same here. A GA in ATL recently told me they did away with Breezeway boarding and that I needed to go to the back of the line... :td: :td:

What? Did you point to the signs? I've not seen a gate without Breezeway Boarding signs in ATL in a long time. Odd. Very odd...

Someone made a reply like "You may not be using Breezeway, but Delta is"

and got passed on through. I like that reply!

The sign (and carpet) were both there. The GA said she was not boarding via the breezeway and only handling pax through the traditional line.

To provide a little more background information, I had arrived at the gate during zone 4 boarding holding my zone 2 BP. That is why I went straight through the Breezeway lane. I do not know how she handled the zone 1 and 2 pax.

Nice... but I don't think I would have dared try that with this GA. She seemed very intense and might have denied me boarding all together.

i've come to realize that breezeway is a handy innovation. as a lowly silver, i have little odds in securing an upgrade before boarding (flying between LAX and ATL). but breezeway lets me sweat it out, as zone 2 boards and most of the 20-60 people ahead of me on the upgrade list clear out. if nothing happens (and it hasn't worked yet), i wait until zone 4 is called (or if i'm brave, zone 7).

the only time i've had a problem was when they were in a hurry to board (due to a late inbound) and opened up both lines to expedite boarding, or when a gaggle of muggles (non-medallions) clogged the regular boarding lane and only breezeway was open. the first i understood and appreciated, and the second was clearly the result of the GA not addressing the problem. the crowd was right in front of her, and she either could have said something to them directly, or asked one of the three other GAs at the desk to announce it over the PA. but everyone has bad days.

That hasn't been my experience at all. The only confusion and hesitation I have seen is during zone 1 and 2 boarding. After that, it seems to work fine which is obviously the intended result if a Breezeway passenger shows up after their zone is called.

These have nothing to do with each other. Breezeway cost them nothing. Upgraded meals/snacks cost them money.

Not only would I have pointed out the signs, I would have pointed out the Breezeway on my BP.

Under what grounds? I definitely wouldn't have given in so easily.

I would have demanded a supervisor to show up on the spot. Agents like this one are in dire need of some re-training. The job of the GA is to follow procedures, not create procedures that might convenience them.

I'm just saying she looked like she was being stretched to her limits. The phone was ringing, the BP scanning machine was acting up, a FA was waiting for paperwork, another FA was trying to deadhead, a baby was crying... I didn't need to push her over the edge and cause any problems for myself.

I guess I became weak and showed some compassion... :D :p

For the people complaining about the Breezeway not working, how many times have you seen passengers line up in a single file line to board? Never! They mob up in a crowd and usually line up in the Breezeway when they are not Breezeway eligable. Instead of wanting to be instantly noticed out of hundreds of people why dont you just mention to the gate agent you're a breezeway passenger and they'll be more than happy to board you ahead of everyone. Its not that the agent is not properly trained or is purposely ignoring you, its that with all the people in the way sometimes we can't tell that you're trying to use the Breezeway

The Breezeway line was empty. I walked up the Breezeway lane and stopped. The GA immediately reached across the other lane to take and scan my BP. The whole process took about 5 seconds. In fact, it was a breeze! :p

After reading all the replies, I'm still amazed that people are still having trouble with breezeway. The OP above pretty much describes my experience boarding almost every Delta flight I've boarded in the past few months. I almost always hang out in the CRC until at least the time that I first see boarding on the screens in the CRC. And I walk to the gate, generally arriving sometime between zone 4 and 7, walk to the front of the empty Breezeway lane, wait for the GA to process between 0 and 4 pax in the regular line, hand him or her my BP, and walk on the plane. The only place I remember it not working was in JAC, they didn't have any breezeway carpets yet.
