I think it's something close to that just that the FA or pilot can't use a priority pass (S-1 or S-2) so if it's a busy time, flying with the buddy passed person can lower the FA or pilot's standby status

Ask the employee who is giving it to you, he will need to price what you want and give all the details about travelling Non Rev. Every marked prices differently.

Welcome

Dlres

Welcome to FT. I want to thank you for taking the time to answer the questions that come up from time to time. We will all appreciate it.

If now one has told you so far, be very careful about posting here, i.e. no clues as to who you are, where you are from etc. Delta evidently frowns on such activity. NEVER post from work as they will be able to track you very quickly.

Most of us here like DL and want to see it succeed. We have some who post here who are bitter over what DL had become. We also have a few kool-aid drinkers who think DL can do no wrong. I'm sorta of in the middle. Just keep in mind that none of what is posted is personal and you will be ok.

Thanks again from some one who has chosen DL as his primary carrier. The front line employees are very good and I enjoy flying with them. (res ain't bad either, I just miss the CP desk at US). I and I'm sure others are glad you are here.....

Thank you for your kind words and warm welcome. Since I work in Res I don't take much personal if I did, well I would not be in Res :)

I wish we had a similar desk at Delta, I would love to work there.

Thank you all for flying Delta when you can. 60 000 jobs depend on it. Now if the pilots....ok that's another thread

I had pass travel benefits on DL that I rarely used (used them twice IIRC) and we were listed as S3C. (So there is a bottom to the bottom :) )

Priority levels go all the way down to S4C IIRC. That's for retired Pan Am employees eligible for benefits.

United lets buddy pass riders fly on the priority of the employee if traveling with the employee. Delta does it the opposite way - employees are busted down to S4 when traveling with the buddy pass!

Codeshare question

This is printed on an existing non-rev eticket.
EMPLOYEE-RELATED TRAVEL IS PERMITTED ON DELTA OR AUTHORIZED CODESHARE FLIGHTS ONLY
I understand that it can be used on subsidaries, but what is currently an
AUTHORIZED CODESHARE FLIGHT?

I don't know what the system is for deciding which flights they want to authorize for non-revs, but a few years back when I used one of these passes CDG-DLA DL 8546 (AF 940) was valid, while CDG-DLA-NSI DL 8546 (AF 940) was not valid (continuation of same plane to nearby city). It seems to me they simply decided to authorize some destinations and not others.

Nonrevs

Actually, nonreving and Biz Elite are part of our compensation package. I don't feel the least bit guilty enjoying my scotch prior to take off on my ATL-NRT flight, while Mr. Medallion is heading towards 42A. Our pay is so low, that the flight bennies are part of our compensation. Plats get certificates they can use. For everyone else, you get what you pay for.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts here, as a Mr Medallion I don't feel the least bit guilty for spending my money with other carriers. so while you're enjoying your scotch in 2F, I am heading for a carrier that appreciates my business and knows that employee bennies are second place to rev traffic.

You people still don't get it.

That, I hope, is not the opinion of other DL employees/dependents/pass receivers on this board. That attitude is not what made DL great before and it'll do nothing to get them out of this mess right now. Just getting on the flight via the terms the buddy pass affords should be benny enough regardless of whether its 42A or 4A. DL owes "Mr. Medallion" a bit more I think...

None anymore. In the past, AF to CDG and AF beyond CDG within Europe. But for quite some time now, buddy passes are only valid on DL metal (including the select DL connection carriers).

That comment from TXTBIRD13 really struck a nerve with a couple Medalleeze.......Love the term "You People" . I can't count how many times I have heard FF's bark that one off at the gates. I believe TXTBIRD13 was commenting on actual EMPLOYEE flight benefits.....as well as his comment about pay... Why on earth would 80% of airline employees put up with complete BS on a daily basis for that pay????

Do medallions think an employee is taking those F/J seats from them? Those seats go emtpy unless the customer has paid or has a way to upgrade. They should not be FREE. I do not believe most employees' have the attitude that they deserve those seats, but rather without those seats available, DL should just contract all Customer Service functions because there would'nt be any employees.

I think this is where most on this board would have an issue with your defense. It has been stated time after time that the "official" reason DL does not allow day-of-departure international upgrades is due to "catering issues." This has been the reason given by DL to several different individuals, but if this is the case, how are the able to avoid these "issues" with nonrevs? If they can't cater for paying passengers to upgrade, how can they cater for nonpaying passengers to upgrade? So instead, a PM/MM flyer on a full Y fare with miles/PMUs in hand will sit in the back row in a middle seat while a nonrev sits in B/E. That paying passenger has "a way" to upgrade as you suggest, DL simply chooses to ignore it. Personally, the only thing that bothers me about the whole situation is that DL is really not being honest about their reasoning. For me, all they have to say is that they are protecting revenue or that this is an employee benefit. Just don't lie and say that there are "catering issues." CO doesn't allow upgrades within 72 hours (unless something has changed recently) and they have stated that it is to protect against "phantom bookings." They are trying to protect their revenue. That's FINE by me... DL needs to protect revenue! Just don't make up false excuses! I am thankful for the method they have... I have yet to sit in coach on a DL international flight when I paid an upgradeable fare and I've even sat in B/E on non-upgradeable fares, so I can't complain!

International Buddy Pass

I am friends with a delta employee, and they were going to get a buddy pass for my girlfriend who lives in Ukraine. I asked my friend and they did not know for sure, but it seems to me it would be no different setting up a buddy pass if the departing flight is from another country to the US, such as for a flight from KBP to JKF to CVG and then back again. I just wanted to make sure that would work out before making definite plans.

Thanks
