Problems with El Al miles posting

I've now taken two round trips between NYC and TLV. Each time, my Delta SkyMiles number appeared on the boarding pass of each leg. However, no miles have posted to my SkyMiles account.

Has anyone else experienced any difficulty in getting SkyMiles credit for El Al flights?

Thanks!

Hey nyc_sooner, welcome to Flyertalk!! I have also flown El Al and placed my skymiles number on the ticket. It took about 9 months for miles to post. I am guessing they are just slow. But they do eventually come. Hope this reassures you!! ^

Thanks - that's very helpful. I'm going to TLV again next week and was contemplating giving them my AA number instead.

Personally, I wouldn't bother waiting. After 1 month - just send the boarding pass stubs and a copy of the (e- or paper) ticket to the SkyMiles Service Desk by fax - you should see the credit within the following days... Just so you know - you get MQMs when flying El Al with a Delta flight number - but with an El Al flight number you only get the base miles - no credit whatsoever. Take care!

I have had delays when getting ordinary El Al flights credited to my SkyMiles account but not when having Delta codeshare flights credited.

Incidentally, in addition to the MQMs, in many cases (depending on the fare) you also get more SkyMiles by having it go as a codeshare flight.

On AA it posted sooner

Hey,

I flew El Al from JFK-TLV-JFK and the miles posted, within 2 weeks.

Good Luck

El AL to Codeshare on DL TLV-ATL

LY will apparently codeshare on DL's impending service between ATL and TLV. I would expect further connecting codeshare destinations out of ATL in the future. The LY flight numbers will reportedly be LY 8863/4.

You mean for LY will apply codeshare on DL with newest flight from ATL-TLV-ATL? I would further better connecting codeshare in ATL for other destinations cities.

El Al flights posting to DL

Has anyone had any problems having El Al miles posted to Delta SM?

PimpNumOne, I have edited the title of your topic so that it more adequately reflects the subject matter.

Hey Pimp (never thought I would get to say that on flyertalk!),

El Al flights take a while to post to DL. When I flew in Dec 2002 and Jan 2003 on El Al, my miles did not post till either August or September 2003. So, it takes a while. If you have your ticket stub with your skymiles number on it, I would sit tight and wait it out.

El Al Blackout dates for SkyMiles?

Can anyone point me to the direction of El Al blackout dates using SkyMiles for Europe to Israel travel? I've been on hold forever and cant seem to find this info online.

runningshoes Apr 30, 2006 7:27 am

Johnny - are you sure that EUROPE - TLV LY flights even qualify as code shares for SM redemption? I don't think they do, and in any case, the actual ST members based in Europe have better connections into TLV, the issue as you noted are the blackout dates.

HeathrowGuy Apr 30, 2006 7:48 am

I'm not sure if the info. is online, but the LY blackout dates span the ENTIRE summer for Delta FFers.

eyal Apr 30, 2006 10:10 am

You should check with a knowledgeable agent if that is still the case. At the end of 2005, El Al eliminated blackout dates for some of their partners (including SAA, but not sure about DL)
