No loss of points and often better availability on nwa.com than on delta.com. I booked 3 award tickets to FAI a couple of weeks ago on nwa.com. delta.com wanted quite a few more miles for the same tickets.

DAY-LGW-DAY
Two Business Class 9 Oct DAY-ATL-LGW, 15 Oct LGW-ATL-DAY, 100K each, $156 in fess. DAY-ATL DL MD80, ATL-LGW NW 330
We had Award tickets DAY-ATL-DTW-LGW-DTW-ATL-DAY but since they changed the flights, I rebooked and got a much more direct routing. I did have to pay $100 change fee but I wanted to leave/return a day earlier. I looked at the seating chart in Business for the ATL-LGW-ATL flights and there was only one other seat taken. I'm sure that will change but for now, it looks like its pretty much wide open in the Oct Award Calendar for the 100K Awards.
For all the negative comments one reads on this and other sites about Sky Miles, I am happy with the results of this booking. Did it through the Medallion Desk with no reservation fees.
Cheers

Looks like we have crossed the 1,000 post threshold in this thread.
Just ticketed 2x business class to India ORD-DTW-AMS-BOM and BLR-CDG-ORD for 120k per person plus $110/pp.
It looks like I will have NW WBC to AMS, DL BE to BOM and AF L'Espace all the way on the return so it will be a nice mix of menus and entertainment.
I have to buy tickets down to Colombo from there it seems.

Did you book this through DL or NW? If DL, you could potentially transfer your points to NW and get a ticket through to Colombo. NW is partners with both Jet & Kingfisher who both fly to Colombo from MAA & BLR. If you booked through Northwest, then you probably already attempted this...

Two BE tickets ROC - JFK - MAD for July at 100k each plus about $37 in taxes.
Last week it was 200k for one and I was going to get one award seat and one M class at $2360 and use a PMU.
Glad I waited and it appears to show that "low" award seats do open up!

Here's a complicated one...
2 Biz class tickets Outbound: (1) RDU-ATL-VCE and (1) MSP-ATL-VCE on Delta. Return: (1)FCO-AMS-ORD-MSP and (1)FCO-AMS-ORD-MSP-RDU on KLM and Northwest. Both 100,000 miles and $110 in taxes per ticket.
Originally booked last October, but was changed this week to allow for longer stay and to fly in WBC on KLM 747. Hopefully it will be worth the change fees!
