Cmh-dps / bkk-cmh

Well it took forever to piece this one together and I wasn't able to fly back via Hawaii (DPS-NRT-NHL-SJC: fail) for a stopover, but here it is

May 9th CMH-DPS Bali!
Feb 20, 2013 BKK-CMH
80k miles / $95

I could find low availability all over the place for individual tickets but had to call in to add the KLM flight from Singapore to Bali, which includes a fun 14 hour layover in Singapore.

I'm extremely happy to unload my usually unusable Delta miles. Everyone's advice on FT helped me out: Thanks!

Happy Hunting!

I don't know if this is considered a real success story (maybe I've been clueless all along). Whenever I've made award reservations, I've always had to check each local airport separately. Today when I searched for award flights, the award booking engine actually recognized the NYC city code and found flights from all 3 airports.

As a bonus I even found a flight at low even though the calendar said medium.

JFK-LHR on Delta 764
MAD-AMS-JFK with long portion on a 747 Combi (first time for me, hoping for upper deck)

All in Business for 100k miles and $53

25K miles + $10
Only one low set of flights showed for each way, everything else was 32.5 or 40K.

STL-SLC-FCA 21 June 2012 / FCA-MSP-STL 25 June 2012
25k + $10

Wasn't a ton of low availability, but these were the exact dates I needed, so it worked out well for me.

After studying every post about award travel to Australia, finally called last night to attempt booking 2 biz award tix for 300,000 miles. First lady was very helpful and seemed like she knew what she was doing. Even booked F for our Delta feeder flights. Ended up booking us on Virgin Australia there and Korean on return. Problem was, she booked us F instead of Z on the Virgin outbound.

Called the second time to change. After being told there was no Z availability on Virgin for our outbound date by the second lady, she actually found 2 O seats on Delta for the LAX-SYD run. I was shocked as I always thought that there was only 1 seat allocated for a Biz award on this flight. Nevertheless, I'm defininately pleased at the drop in fees.

2/6-2/8 BNA-ATL-LAX-SYD (All Delta)
2/22 SYD-ICN (KE) Overnight in Seoul
2/23 ICN(KE A380!)-LAX-SLC-BNA
300,000 SkyPesos and $280 in fees for 2 (vs. $1060 for the original itin)

Two r/t seats in J booked through DL on AF BOS-CPH (through CDG) for 100k each. Taxes were 224$, which was about 1500$ less than the AF surcharges.

Impressive!

This is currently what I'm sawing up towards... not sure if we'll be able to make it happen or not - but we're only about 80,000 short between the wife's account and mine.

Don't know the arrival times into LAX you've got but if you could handle an overnight at SEA-TAC then I see 'F' space on LAX-SEA on 12/19 and on the 12/20 morning SEA-AUS flight. Just a thought as I know the LAX-ATL flights are often hard to find F space on at low.
Just came across your response - that's a really cool idea. Thanks for pointing that out - I'm going to check in to it!
