Hah.

That sandwich does look delicious if you removed the mustard and put something else on. (I do not like mustard by itself... I'll deal with it on a McDonald's quarter pounder but otherwise I hate it)
Suck it up and enjoy! That sandwich looks amazing!

LOL, his new name? It's what happens when I type when tired.

The subliminal text is a hint...

Deviled ham spread?

I am no fan of mustard, either, but I do believe that a small amount does add a nice bit of tanginess to a good pastrami sandwich--otherwise, the meat and bread can be a little overwhelmingly heavy and leave your mouth feeling a bit coated. I usually ask them to go light on the mustard, though.

Mayo sounds good to me!

I've never actually had a pastrami sandwich but I can imagine what that would be like...

You have a better chance of the Dovster quitting smoking for good.

"Mayo" and "pastrami sandwich" should NEVER appear in the same sentence (or contiguous post)

Every doctor I have ever seen has told me that I will wind up quitting smoking for good. The only question is which will cause it first -- some result of my smoking or a jealous husband.

BTW: A certain member of FT is trying a third way. I asked her to send me 6 boxes of Girl Scout Thin Mints and, instead, she sent me 12 boxes.

If you have never had real pastrami (or the very similar but--dare I say it--slightly superior Montrealer equivalent, smoked meat) sandwich, then you cannot possibly imagine what it would be like.

If you cannot get to NYC anytime soon, you may want to whet your appetite with one of these suggestions.

That said, if you don't like it, don't rule out a visit to one of the holy halls of pastrami in NYC--as one of the Chowhounders put it, the Boston examples are "not even in the same universe." When it comes to sandwiches, Massachusettsans should probably stick with what they do best: roast beef. I have yet to find a roast beef sandwich anywhere on earth that competes with this one. (Prior to spending time in Mass a couple of years ago, I did not know that roast beef did not have to be bone dry...)
