I suspect pointy was not questioning your statement but rather the use of the word alot, which is not a word. It should be two words, a lot.

I had a colleague last year that was 500 mqm's short from Silver, didn't fly a quick leg to say Milwaukee and back to MSP and lost status. Luckily stumbled on a challenge offer for the first half of 2011 and he earned back FO status quickly. Not saying that will always happen though...

A good amount... I'd say about the same 23K I earned in the last 6mo of 2011 I'll earn in the first 6mo of 2012 (at least).

If it's going to be mostly on DL, there's no reason not to do an MR.

Big jump from FO to Gold, IMO. And you could hit GM with a single mileage run. Def worth it.

Losing Status

I have been a Platinum Elite for the past 3 years. Due to cutbacks in my company, I have not flown as much this year as in past years. Based on my upcoming travel, I will finish around 40k MQM for 2011.

- Will Delta drop me 2 levels to Silver? I've heard conflicting information.

- Are there any promotions (outside of the AMEX card) to get a quick hit on MQM?

Thanks!!

even prior to rollover MQMs, delta does not do a soft landing. so yes, you will turn to FO.

Regarding bonuses... i havent seen any recently... maybe a mileage run?

and welcome to FT

FO = Silver Medallion. but since SM could be confused as SkyMiles... everyone here says FO

FO = Flies Often. It's an old frequent flier designation from when the DL frequent flier program first started and there were very few frequent fliers.

well, unless your travels are anything but for business, then what do you need the status for?

Even as a 15% work 85% leisure traveler, I use/need my status. Of course, when there is a minimum of 8400 miles r/t between me and home, getting on a plane is necessary.
