I would like to see this thread

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta...nt-thread.html

replaced with one that meets the needs of a broader cross section of FT membership. That is, one addressing the ludicrous award calendar and the disingenuously poor availability of LOW awards.

However, despite repeated requests, including some from others, all we hear is the sound of crickets from the MODS. Not even an acknowledgment of the request and a "go pound sand" explanation for why they will not do this.

I believe the "fix is in." The powers that be on FT apparently do not want to ruffle the feathers of their friends in DL management.:td::td::td:

I believe two or three of them should go. I think both of the "definitive" threads should go as I would argue there is nothing definitive about them. I also think the "Consolidated promotions" thread should fall from sticky status. It hasn't been updated in 3+ weeks. When it's time for an update it will pop up to the front page again and discussion can continue.

(Note: I thought there was already a thread started about having too many stickies but I couldn't find it. Sorry for starting a new thread if there was an existing one).

While I agree that there are a lot of stickies in the DL forum I don't see how you could miss that the consolidated promos sticky had a post just 4 days ago .... by me. Perhaps you are referring to the July 2nd update of post #1 by the OP, flyzabit? Just because an OP hasn't been updated recently is not a reason to think that the thread is stale.

Personally, I don't find it too much of a burden to scroll my browser past the stickies if I'm not looking at them. I say keep 'em.

Mods - This should be added as a sticky to reinforce the point.

In order to do that, we need to first create a “sticky” thread.

I entirely agree that there are too many “sticky” threads, but when I attempt to consolidate them, I receive complaints.

Suggestions are always welcome. Please keep them coming, as this is your forum.

Notice Pertaining to “Sticky” Threads in the Delta SkyMiles Forum

The purpose of this note is to inform Delta SkyMiles forum FlyerTalk members that the following discussions no longer have “sticky” status...

...but they are now listed at the top of the PLEASE READ FIRST: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) About Anything To Do With Delta under the FORMER “STICKY” THREADS heading, so they are only one extra click away from being accessed by you than they were when they had “sticky” status.

Additionally, the FAQ: Economy Comfort Seating has been given “sticky” status temporarily.

This is all for balancing housekeeping purposes — sorry, chocolate mints left on your pillow are not a part of these housekeeping services — with convenience for you to access information quickly.

As always, suggestions are always welcome by you.

Where did the promotions thread go here??!!

Could someone point me in the right direction? In the "organization"/sticky intro to Delta there is no new link...

gooselee Jun 24, 2012 7:50 am

Link is right at the top of the "PLEASE READ FIRST" thread. On my phone otherwise I'd repost it for you...

Dear Canarsie,
I'm sorry but I think this is really, really confusing. I still don't understand why there isn't a direct link to the Promotions thread...

The link that was posted brings you to a former link that hasn't been accessed much recently.

Is there not enough traffic for it to merit its own clearly accessible thread?

Sorry to be dense here but I think it should be either renamed "Promotions" or something like that so people can find it easily. It's ok if it's part of the sticky guide but it needs to be clearer...As of now, I can't even identify it.

Thanks.

I did not realize you posted this question here as well as in a private message to me, bostontraveler, so I will post the same response here.

First of all, there is no need to apologize, bostontraveler — that is a valid question.

As moderators, one of our jobs is to attempt to have the information be as accessible as possible to FlyerTalk members. This includes giving certain discussions “sticky” status.

Unfortunately, if we gave “sticky” status to every thread requested, the Delta SkyMiles forum would be inundated with them.

Increasingly, FlyerTalk members are accessing FlyerTalk from tablets, smartphones and notebook computers — all devices with small screens. We then receive complaints about how they must scroll down past a bunch of “sticky” threads to access the latest information.

We are then forced to balance out which topics should have “sticky” status. We dislike doing that because how does one decide which threads are more important than other threads?

The compromise is to add one extra click to access those threads by putting links to them at the top of the main “sticky” thread — certainly not as convenient as having them as “sticky” threads themselves, but still a decent compromise.

For me, the answer would be to have one main “sticky” thread with links to every topic imaginable, neatly organized and easily accessible — but that is for me and not necessarily the right solution.

If anyone has a better idea of how to balance out this dilemma while still attempting to best serve as many FlyerTalk members as possible, by all means please let me know, as I will be the last to tell you that I have all of the right answers...

I like the idea of having only one DL sticky, but then it's important that links to the important threads be in the first post or two and certainly not beyond post #15.

The links would be at the top as they are now, listed under the heading of former “sticky” threads and again in their pertinent categories further down the list.

I really like this idea, too, and it works great on a computer. But when I'm in the FT Android app, I cannot click on any links to other FT threads. When I do, it launches my browser and takes me to an error page. :(

Totally aware that this may just be user error, but if it's something other Android users are experiencing I wonder if there's a way to fix that.
