My flight out of A last night was delayed so I took the opportunity to go check out the new side of E; I took the airside shuttle over and I walked back. The wait time to get on the shuttle was slow and the ride was long going the long way past B and C on the way, so walking was *significantly* faster. If you're going to be landside anyway, I definitely would suggest you just walk if there are no mobility concerns in your party. I was at work and using KCM so I can't speak to how security wait may play into things if you're starting off from airside, but starting off from landslide it's a no-brainer.

My short answer is Yes. Here’s my longer explanation:
I flew CDG-BOS-MSP on DL flights on two separate tickets about three weeks ago; like you, I had a very long layover (6 hours IIRC). My luggage was checked only to Boston (I didn’t try to check it all the way through at CDG). The Delta staff in Terminal E were quite willing to check my bag on to MSP. However I wanted to SDC to an earlier flight, was having trouble doing it on the Delta app, and didn’t want to end up with my bag on a later flight than I took. So I took my bag to Terminal A, secured the SDC, and then checked the bag. I also had a 6 hour layover on my outbound trip and spent several hours in the SkyClub in Terminal E. When I checked in the staff told me (without my asking) that I could stay longer than the 3-hour limit since the club wasn’t very busy at the time. Thanks. |
Arriving in E and flying out of A in a few weeks - any idea how busy security in A typically is around 11a on a Saturday? Debating between going landside and walking vs just taking the shuttle.

Even when going from A-E, I often skip the shuttle and just walk even if it means re-clearing TSA at E as it’s often faster. The shuttle is very slow and only runs every 15-20 mins. |
If you're arriving in E, odds are its from international and you will get dumped landside anyway after clearing immigration and customs.

I find landside better if for nothing else than the fact I can control, but they have redone security in e making it far more tenable than it once was
if you have tsa pre and or clear a should be pretty quick, BUT you are nearing spring break which hits BOS pretty hard, be cautious about using clear it can be a bit slow so look before you opt into that line, I keep hearing that BoS is going to digital soon but that has been about a year of chatter now |

We are a party of 8 who will be arriving on an International Delta flight into Terminal E at Logan, and then connecting on a Delta domestic flight from Terminal A. I have been trawling through the web to try and get a definitive answer as how we should make the connection, but thought I'd double check with the people who will know...
We originally had 3 hours to make the transfer but Delta have been changing the flight times on a regular basis and this has been nibbling away at this time, so now we're down to 2 and a half hours, so... When we clear immigration and customs in Terminal E, I assume we then recheck our hold bags and exit landside into the main departures concourse? Is it correct that we should then walk or get the Airport Shuttle bus to Terminal A? I have seen reports of airside transfers from A to E, but assume they don't go the other way and what ever we do, we need to go back through TSA security when we get to Terminal A? Any help in clarifying things would be greatly appreciated. 👍 |
I can confirm this as I was stuck in Economy parking which is past E, landed at A, walked through the central garage in about 10 minutes, but that was a brisk walk. Still FAR easier than schlepping 8 people onto a bus and going all the way around unless some have mobility issues.

I've used that a few times now...if you arrive and see a substantial line for the main checkpoint, it's worth checking if the new one is shorter. |

I went from A to E in November, 2024. I noticed that the shuttle arrives at a point where terminal C and terminal E connect; the shuttle used a switchback ramp set up to get up to the entrance to the terminal, which was actually among some jetBlue gates. I noted that the airside shuttle did in fact run both ways for passengers (which formerly was not the case.
Hopefully Delta cleaned up the situation with rechecking DL to DL bags after clearing customs. When I did this connection a couple of years ago, there were no Delta representatives outside of customs, and the one airport employee I encountered told me that I was "jumping the line" by trying to find a belt to recheck luggage (there were about 300 people in line at a "transfer desk" sign. I ended up walking through the central parking garage to Terminal A and then rechecking my bag at the Delta counter inside A. |
Boston Logan Terminal A to terminal E
I will be arriving at Terminal A from a domestic flight and need to get to Terminal E for an international flight; both flights are with Delta.. I only have a layover of 1hr 20min. What would be the fastest option. If walk and take the sky bridge will I have to go thru TSA again;, I am TSA precheck? I understand that Delta has a shuttle from terminal A to Terminal E that doesn't require that I go thru the TSA. How often does the shuttle operate and how long does it take to go from Terminal A to E with the Delta shuttle. Which would be the fastest option? Thank you.

Thank you for the reply. I understand you pick up the delta shuttle on terminal A's satellite concourse. How do I get to the satellite concourse and what gate is it near? What does the shuttle look like, does it hold only a few people? Thanks again
