Stowaway - Flight 1683 SLC- Austin
Perp gets into airport via Southwest buddy pass
Southwest flight is full.
Perp takes photos of passengers’ boarding passes to board Delta flight.
Perp hides in bathroom, comes out during taxi but the flight is full.
Plane returns to gate
Perp is now being held on a “federal detainer.”

Whenever people do this im always curious that they dont consider that Greyhound/Amtrak are still options. $30 vs $300 just take a ground transport. If its a big enough airport that SouthWorst operates to, you can at least take a bus.

Interestingly, I was on KE a few weeks ago and liked how they did a double scan. On with the gate agent at boarding, the other by the FA when stepping on the plane. It wasn’t inconvenient and I didn’t notice any of the usual checking to see if a pax was onboard.

His fatal mistake was that he picked a 100% full flight... He was pretty clever, but that 1 little detail of a completely full flight caught him... he needed an expert flyer subscription I reckon...

Wondering if WN will take any action with the buddy pass that the perp was trying to use after his idiocy in sneaking on the DL flight... or I wonder if that WN 'buddy pass' he was trying to use was even valid.

This is pretty scary when you think about it. I had the WN companion pass last year and had to book a ticket for my "buddy". I don't understand why he wasn't on the original flight he was supposed to be on with his buddy.
