DL Reserve and Plat Amex AFs Increasing by $100/year
Seems to be effective today for new cardmembers. New details are on the Amex site.
Variety of semi useful or useless, depending on the person, monthly or annual credits added.
Reserve gets 4 guest passes.
Companion pass destinations are expanded to more N American locations.
Ballsy move, Amex and DL, especially on the Reserve Card.

Pretty bold of them to raise the Reserve AF right before they start limiting entrances a year from now. But I suspect a lot of cardholders are locked in due to needing the MQDs from spend.
For people who already have status, I’d think the value prop on the Amex DL Platinum is worse now, unless they really need the $2,500 MQD head start.

I'll opt to keep the card, primarily for the companion cert. So, there's a chance that I'll get more value out of the cert if I can use it in AK, HI, and the Caribbean. Also, not sure if this is new? But there's also now a $10/month rideshare (Uber, Lyft, etc.) credit? That, alone, would offset the increase in AF.

Ballsy, indeed. The main reason to pay the AF for that card was the SkyClub access, which as of 2025 will be severely nerfed. To raise the AF $100 on top of that?!?

The companion certificate expansion to the Caribbean and Central America is pretty great. And, yes, I've been able to use my companion certificate every year I've held the card for first class round trips and doubt that will change.

AmEx Plat just gives $15/month as Uber Cash (that expires monthly). The wording above is that it is a statement credit, unless I'm mis-reading it? (Always possible.)
EDIT: Just to test, I just added my DL Reserve AmEx to my Uber account and added a minimum funds transfer. I'll see if it shows up as a statement credit, or if AmEx deposits $10 Uber Cash on 9/29 (as it does with the AmEx Plat).

They're also adding complementary upgrades to the DL Platinum cards, interesting.
I guess with the $10 Uber credit, companion cert good for Caribbean, and additional 2 Skyclub guest passes (total of 4 for reserve now), it's a wash for me.

Does this mean that the statement credit will not be applied for Uber Cash purchases, but only for direct ride-share trip payments? (Not a big deal; I'll just need to use the card for at least one of my many Uber rides each month.)

Companion cert being good for the Caribbean actually makes keeping the reserve card worthwhile for me on its own - my sister and I do an annual trip SLC-PLS where even V fares are routinely into the $600+ range r/t.
