Current 2024 First Class meal service status -- FC meal service consists of plated meals (including hot options) between hubs and to/from most larger stations (exception stations listed below only receive cold meal box options) on flights over 900 miles which depart before 9PM (scheduled). Pre-selection is available on routes with plated meal offerings (except those operated by an A321neo), while it is not available on cold meal box routes. In addition, flights over 2300 miles will receive meal service in FC for departures after 9PM.

Snack boxes are generally offered on redeye flights under 2300 miles.

Meal service is not provided on flights under 900 miles.

All D1 flights, domestic and international, receive hot meal service.

Current exception stations where only cold meal boxes (with no pre-selection) are offered in FC on 900+ mile flights (both to and from station). Market/Bistro snack boxes are served on flights that are AM return flights to hubs from previous evening arrivals (as the cold meal boxes would require refrigeration overnight ):

May your travels find you safe and May this be the year that all sad box routes are permanently retired!

I check in here every week to see if the sad boxes have been retired - I won't fly Delta on my most common route until they have.

Aua-atl 1/1/24

To start the new year, DL offered a trio of the sadest of sad boxes on this flight. Pictured is the "roast beef" salad. Other choices were salmon salad (which smelled as bad as it looked) and the "brie sandwich." (Catered in BOS apparently - shocking if DO&CO had anything to do with this.)

There is a caterer at AUA that serves AA, UA, BA, and KL (GCG/Calloway) but DL is too cheap to use them. Keep Descending!

I don’t think I’ve seen that cookie before, even in a sad box.

Did you ask for no sauce or did they forget the sauce?

As a meat & potatoes person, that would be my "to die for" meal on an airline flight!

Jan/Feb JFK-Europe Delta One

JFK-Europe for January/February. Believe the menu will change in March.

Cauliflower soup, poached shrimp appetizer, mixed greens salad. Choice of butter or olive oil with the bread

Pre-order option of crab cakes with miso yuzu sauce, basmati rice, stir-fry vegetables. Other pre-order optIon was the herb-crusted rack of lamb.

Usual sundae; with Espresso if you’re on the newer/refurbished widebodies (including 764s and 76Ks). Other dessert choices were a chocolate lava cake and the cheese plate

Choice of spinach and cheese quiche or blueberry French toast bread pudding

New TATL wine list starting January 2024

Good fodder for a new Saturday Night Live skit, perhaps loosely based on the amazing “Dick in a box” hit.

Very sad that DL is still pushing these 'sad boxes' on routes where catering is available. Even worse when they dump these on a flight that departs from a major US city.

You should find photos of the first two in the 2023 thread. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen that smoked pepper chicken breast salad before.

Has DL retired the impossible dishes? Haven’t seen them in a while.
