Goodbye, MQMs! Where will you end up?

I thought it might be interesting to share where we'll all end up with MQMs as they sunset. Here's my data:

2024 Status: Diamond Medallion
Lifetime MQM/Million Miler: 2,111,136
Final 2023 MQM Balance: 860,912

I guess I'll be extending my Diamond status for 7 years!

Ha I don't even have enough rollover mqms to hit Plat again, but in your boat I would drop the reserve card entirely, buy a lounge membership, and pick up an AA card for my daily expenses to hit plat pro or EXP and have a solid backup airline

I read somewhere that the max extension is 5 years. Long before then 360 will be the new DM with GUCs. So yes you will be called a DM for the next 5-7 years but it will be just like PM is today.

An agent made that claim, but it looks like agent may have been just reading the example extension provided on website. The example was for someone with 550K rollover MQMs and website really just appears to say the maximum number of years you can extend status with that many MQMs is 5 years (and not that the 5 years is actually a hard and fast limit). But someone who did not read it carefully might misinterpret it to be a hard and fast limit.

I wonder how many people forgot that DL will be deducting 75k/125k MQMs before any rollover.

That is exactly what I did. Matched to AA, got the Citi card.

With my annual DL Plat as a 2MM I will be able to hit AA Exec Plat fairly easily with my normal spend with just 7-10K spent on flights.

2024 Status: Platinum Medallion

I just made platinum again for next year; no way of even being close to Diamond. I'm a few hundred dollars away from getting another 10,000MQM status boost on my Delta amex card. Any reason to try for that boost with the new rules/regulations? Thank you!

The 10,000 MQMs will convert to 5,000 SM or 1,000 MQDs. How much will this be worth to you? Buy some gift cards at the grocery store for yourself.

Thank you. I had thought it was a 20:1 conversion to MQDs. More useful if it's 10:1. Appreciate it!

I was close to the next 15K MQM boost for my reserve and purchased something to get me there. In my case I'll have over 100K MQMs (when the 75K are deducted for 2024 PM) so it was worth it to keep platinum for an extra year IMO

If you care about hitting a lifetime threshold, that would be another reason to get these 10K MQMs.

2024 Status: Platinum Medallion
Lifetime MQM/Million Miler: 2,009,009
Final 2023 MQM Balance: 255,012

*I am $1,500 spend away from another 15k MQM boost, don't really need the rollover due to the 2MM status, so will probably convert to MQD early 2024 for DM through 2025, then revert to PM annually. I don't see the point in spending the additional $1,500 now vs. next year? Am I missing something? 255k = $25k MQD + $2,500 reserve boost = $27,500.

If your current earned status for 2024 is Platinum, you will only rollover 180K MQMs as they will deduct 75K MQMs for your Platinum status. You will definitely not rollover all 255K MQMs. They only did 100% Rollover for a couple years during Covid (they did not do 100% last year).
I would say it is worth the spend this year. $1500 more spent this year for the 15K MQM boost generates 1.5K MQDs next year with conversion from MQM. $1500 in spend next year on a Reserve Amex only nets 150 MQDs (10:1 MQD Boost ratio).

Thanks. The 255 is net of the 75k pulled. I earned PM in 2022 for 2023, not through extension/rollover. Currently at 330,012 MQM without the additional spend or deducting for status. I could do a DL gift card for myself for $1,500 I guess, but my estimate is that I don't really need much for get to 28k spend for DM in February 2024? I think I have that correct.
