TV coverage area

Flying DL80 from SEA to CDG this Saturday on a 330-900neo. I’ve searched but cannot find what the current tv (and internet) coverage area may be for this flight.

anyone have info?

AFAIK there is no live TV on any of the DL widebody fleet.

The website is misleading because it touts Delta Studio on the A339 and in touting Delta Studio it mentions the 12 channels of live TV but not all Delta Studio implementations come with Live TV. It’s just the ones below (the narrow body fleet)

Live satellite TV is available on the following aircraft within coverage areas: A220, A319, A320, A321, 737-800, 737-900, 757-200, 757-300.

Ugh. That sucks. And you are right...a closer look on the site doesn't even show the satellite icon as one of the in-flight services.

Maybe I can stream via internet, though I've found that to be hit or miss.

It must be a legal thing with international widebodies because all of the live TV is now streamed via GoGo or Viasat. There are no longer separate TV antennae on any Delta aircraft.

I’ve had no trouble streaming on an A339 over the Atlantic.

Flew LIS > JFK on a 763 earlier this week and there wasn’t any live TV options to choose from. Only the Delta Studios movies, tv series and Spotify playlist. Same for JFK to JAX

Just flew DL 80 in Sept and can confirm that there was not live TV. Inernet was connected throughout the flight. I don't recall any dropouts but I was only online sporadically as I was updating/syncing work files after editing on the plane.

I flew SEA-CDG in June on the A330-300 and surprisingly had GoGo service for the entire flight. I didn't check what the TV service was.

I actually flew a 737-8 ATL- MEX recently. The Live TV worked just fine (I was watching it it) until we passed New Orleans a d went out over The Gulf of Mexico (usual route of this flight) Few mins. Later the service stopped abruptly and message was displayed "service currently unavailable" or something similar. Guess they only license it over the USA and once it detects airplane is outside the desiginated area, it cuts off.

The satellite transod=nders on Dish Network are directional and are designed to cover the continental US, so if you were to go out over the ocean (or Gulf of Mexico), you would lose the ability to receive the Dish signals.

Flying from grand cayman back to ATL tomorrow. I assume it will work once over Florida but will It have live TV over the Caribbean for the first 30 mins of the trip!?! The USA World Cup game starts 5 mins after departure and I’m hoping not to miss it

Since it's limited to continental US coverage (as noted in previous post), you will not have access until you get nearer to Florida coast. Being over water or islands has no bearing as these are satellite based systems, not terrestrial (they don't use land-based antenna systems for access).

The TV channels are delivered over the satellite Internet connection, not a separate satellite TV antenna. The availability is determined by licensing, not satellite coverage.

As others had mentioned, once you get away from the continental US, there isn't coverage. I flew to SJU last week and lost coverage shortly after moving past Florida. It was a bummer as it was a Sunday...was looking forward to watching the NFL!
