Hearing the 33 ex-Lion 737-900ERs are going to enter service with Delta without much modification. No seatback screens, no Wi-Fi and minimal galleys. They are going to try and keep them on sub-500 mile rotes from ATL for the first year or so until mods can be completed.

The -900s have been stored for such a long time, they could all have been renovated in Delta style by now...

Well, $$$. But even the RJs that would have served these routes have WiFi. First ATL got the 35L, now they get the 73L.

If you had a facility that had the capacity and you could even get the wifi gear. Airbus can’t even supply wifi on some of its new jets.

I was being slightly facetious, but good to know the actual IDs.

I honestly don't get this. Flying is still not back to 2019-peak; why do we need these planes if they aren't even flying all the routes pre-pandemic?

This thread was about additional orders in June 2022. Delta's total outstanding 330neo order book stands at 22 frames.

Same reason they inducted the LATAM A350s right away. Flights are full and they're trying to capitalize off the demand while the going is good.

Delta retired all the MD88’s and MD90’s during the pandemic as well as some 757’s, 767’s and all the 777’s. They do not have enough airframes to meet demand. The Lion Air 737’s would have been in use sooner if they did not also early retired 2000 pilots. They should however be caught up on pilot hiring by January.
