International economy meal?
 

TATL flight in C+, SLC-AMS, what can I expect for food? It wasn’t great before the pandemic, but we always had choices and got fed on the long flight. Never needed to bring snacks. Can I expect the same now? Thanks

It's pretty much the same as before Covid for TATL international in coach/C+ (which have always had the same meal choices). A couple of dinner options after departure and some kind of breakfast item before arrival and some snacks available if you get hungry in between.

considering that goes down in history as one of the worst hamburgers I’ve ever had I can’t believe anyone misses it. I’m reminded of the time I took a hamburger into the airport in California from In-N-Out Burger and ate before we got on the plane. The man across the aisle from me in first class with his sad hamburger looked at me and said “yours was a lot better “

I ate mine in the boarding area so he saw me eat it. And probably he'd had one at least once in his life so he could compare. I didn't have to eat the sad looking burger to know the one I just had was a lot better. I'd had it before. Once was enough.

Of course I feel the same way about the omelets that I notice people on here seemed to love. just gross!

I think it depends on the quality of the beef at where it's catered. Those burgers were mostly in F on daytime flights on DEN-JFK on a 738 (DEN = known for good quality meat). There was also a cut of steak I had on DEN-LGA on a A320 which was absurdly huge and pretty good. This was back in 2016-2017, the steak was in F on Christmas Eve in 2016 on N309US before it was reconfigured. And yep, that plane was falling apart and rock and rolled in turbulence all the way to NYC and the tray table was also falling apart when eating it.

That said, DL did offer a B.O.B. burger briefly in Y on it's JFK-LAX-JFK flights around 2014. I had one a few times, and I can confirm it was worth the price. Way better than the CO cheeseburgers they used to serve for free.

Considering I've lived in and out of CA (no pun intended) for 15+ years, I can confirm it's quality is fine, but has become less exciting over the years. For instance, when I was living in AUS they had In N' Out, it was never packed and the quality was never the same as say L.A.

DL's burgers were really OK from a presentation perspective in F, and the potato salad with it was a nice touch. I've said this before, compared to with what they're serving now, what's the harm in bringing back the former Y wraps I used to purchase? Those were acceptable by comparison.

Choice of prime rib sandwich, charcuterie or an Asian noodle bowl. The noodles were okay and came in a tasty peanut sauce. The mushrooms were inedible. The wasabi peas were probably the best part of the meal if we're being honest.

I never had the actual burger but I had the burger sliders twice on the OGG-SLC red eye and ORD-SLC. Really didn't think they were bad at all and I actually liked them.

They're serving the same breakfast menu out of SFO to JFK for more than 6 months now.

I've noticed a lot of the Alessi stuff pop up on eBay. I wonder if they liquidated a lot of that during the pandemic (which would also explain why they've been SO SLOW to return plated meals).

Could the china get anymore generic? I know we're not going to see fancy like back in the day, but even some textural molding/embossing (UA has a pattern on certain pieces) can add a touch of visual appeal at minimal cost. This looks like it came out of the bargain bin at the restaurant supply house. I get it, it's a minor nit to pick, but it all goes to general trends.

Choice of Mezze with veggies, kale chicken salad, or this Salmon with Quinoa/veggies and I think a tzatziki sauce. It was cold, but very tasty and good quantity. The little brownie was good and the crackers were good too.

I thought I read somewhere Delta said they sold off most of their F/D1 dishes, glassware during Covid and have been having trouble getting replacements.

I'm a fan of cold salmon, so I might like that, but the side reminds me of cold fried maggots topped with multi-colored mucus.

At least there are new boxes appearing the last month or so.
