Adding Global Entry to Delta Trip
Quick question:
I have three upcoming trips with Delta. I added the global entry PASSID number to my trips and in my profile. Does TSA pre-check/global entry become visible anywhere in your reservation / app or does it only show up when you check in or get your boarding pass?

There's also no guarantee that you'll get TSA Pre. You'll only find out when you check-in.

However in practical terms, you always get it. Instead they do random selection VIA WTMD. It goes beep for random and they have you go through normal scanner instead.

Global Entry is different as it’s about their system easily recognizing you and allowing you through a special lane.

If Precheck doesnt popup that means theres a mistake . for me its usually the bday being flipped cause of the way the US and the rest of the world has its format. but ASKTSA on twitter usually can figure out whats wrong if you DM them your Full Name KTN, Reservation Number, Date of Travel and Departure City.

Having PreCheck doesn't guarantee that you'll get it every trip. There's supposed to be some randomness to it.

Its just not guaranteed, no other way to describe it. Youll get it 99% of the time but theres a chance you dont. Its also why your BP has to say Precheck and you cant flash a global entry card.

this is correct (for all practical purposes). "It's not guaranteed, it's random" etc is just a crutch that agents use because they don't want to be bothered to look into why it's not appearing (mostly because they have no idea what to check).

it is possible that you didn't get pre-check because you've recently engaged in some suspcious behavior that has gotten the attention of some governmental agency and/or their algorithms, but this is not what's going on for 99.99% of people who don't get precheck when they think they should have. The idea that the TSA just "randomly" decides not to give it to you sometimes is bunk. There are random elements in screening but this isn't one of them.

PreCheck and Trusted Traveler (Global Entry being one of the means of becoming a Trusted Traveler) are separate things. PreCheck is an airline function and only the airline can provide PreCheck access and only to those who are Trusted Travelers (there have been a few exceptions to this). That's why your KTN has to be in the airline's reservation system for a traveler to have PreCheck benefits. Also, though rare now, not every airline flying to the USA participates in PreCheck.
TSA geants PreCheck rights to those enrolled in PreCheck, Nexus, Global Entry and those with a Department Defense ID number.
