Is T2 reopening? I’m seeing a note on the app for my upcoming flight about the T2 partial closure and to check in at T4, and take the bus at B18.

T2 departure gates have been in use since earlier this month but check-in has not reopened there yet. I think the original plan was to reopen it in July (with check-in available there) but I think they started increasing flights at JFK before then already and needed the gates. So far, it’s pretty much mostly the RJ flights that are leaving out of the C gates.

I was flying to JFK a few weeks ago and the gate assignment suddenly changed to a C gate before arriving. It was a ghost town, and had a private bus ride to T4

Our flight to PHX on a 75S departed from C63 last week. Meanwhile, T4 was totally overwhelmed with gridlock out front and the worst lines I've seen at any terminal in a long time.

DL's messaging on this is very unclear. I'm sure there are pax showing up every day at T2 only to find there's no access to the gates.

JFK T2 Reopening

JFK T2 partially reopened a few days ago. According to JFK staff T2 will be fully reopened tomorrow. For now T2 will be accessible from the T4 B18 bus gates.

Delta is in practically full swing at JFK. They need the space. Put those pandemic rumors of T2 never reopening to bed.

Until the JFK project kicks off we will need to grin and bear old T2 a while longer.

T2 is smaller = less walking than T4, and NO triple helixes to negotiate like most of the T4 gates.
BUT, parking in the garage across the street from T4 will be an issue if if you depart from T4 but on the return arrive in T2.

I'll take T2 at JFK any day over T2 at LAX. ;-)
Does that also mean the T2 SP checkin and security lanes are open?

This is key - being able to skip the T4 TSA experience . . . .

While I definitely agree with this, I was really hoping T2 had seen its last days. The place is only marginally better than LAX T2.

T4 has CLEAR (free for DMs), I don't recollect that T2 had CLEAR.

Most of the time T2 barely even had Precheck.

I have Clear and I'd still rather use T2 at JFK. T4 has to be a top three worst security experience of any US airport.

Last run through ten days ago, there was a line-up for the dogs, then at least a dozen people ahead of us to use the kiosks, then an unexplained delay at the scanners. It took 20 minutes to clear.

Yuck... hoping I don't get stuck with having to take the jitney for the T2-T4 connections. Thats always been a huge time sink at JFK. Much rather connect and depart from the same terminal.

I wonder how many birds and other things they had to clear out with T2 being closed so long... it must've been infested with both flying and crawling rodents.
