Special Meal option not showing up for my trip (even though flight shows "Dinner")

Hi folks -- I've booked a first class round-trip from SFO to BOS later this fall. Nonstop on the way there, and a connection on the way back. Two out of three flights indicate dinner service according to my reservation, but when I go to look at my trip details to make a request for a special meal (vegan), that option is physically NOT THERE for me to select. Can anyone tell me why this is happening? Do I need to phone them to request this instead? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

They just reintroduced meals on First Class flights (over 1500 miles) starting on July 13th. A press release on March 31st states that FC will be getting boxed meals, so there may not be a choice. While they will likely return to plated meals at some point, they don't have a date for that yet.

I assume the “boxed meals” will be for flights 900-1499 miles only as DL just loaded the meals in for flights 1500+ miles just a few weeks after UA announced hot plated meals were also returning to domestic flights 1500+ as well.

The website still only shows snacks for flights between 900-1499 flights after July 13th. So I assume the boxed meals are what the 1500+ miles flights are going to be getting (the "key" U.S. routes mentioned below). I wouldn't assume that DL will be matching UA's hot meals on 1500+ miles flights.

" In early June, customers flying in Delta One or First Class on select domestic coast-to-coast flights will see hot food options return, and First Class customers on other key U.S. routes will enjoy fresh boxed meals beginning in early July. "

Thanks for the info. One wonders if the boxed meals would be at least vegetarian... or maybe I'll be able to make some selections online after July 31?

Till they actually are serving meals, nothing will be enabled most likely.

Makes sense. Guess I'll see how things look in August!
