Well, AF says it will continue flying to US despite the restrictions.
https://news.yahoo.com/air-france-sa...165126242.html
So CDG will be a viable route / re-route for DL flyers to get back.

True, however they are dropping some cities, so not all routes will continue (I note that SEA is not on the list of cities that AF will continue flying to). FWIW Delta appears to be continuing service from AMS to SEA (which is how I’m supposed to get home next week...keeping my fingers crossed).

No, I don’t think you’ve understood this. From today, unless you are a US citizen or legal permanent resident, you cannot travel to the US if you have been in the Schengen area in the last 14 days.

In addition to those who spend 14 days outside of Schengen zone before transiting to US, there is a long list of ways Schengen area residents can travel to the US including for instance having dependents who are US citizens and for certain medical professionals.

Those conditions won't apply for most people who just want to travel there for a holiday or business purposes.

CLARIFICATION that the ban affects flights departing on or after MAR 13 2359 Eastern which would be MAR 14 0459 Central Europe.

It's not only EU Citizens/Residents affected, but anyone traveling from Europe to the US, no matter their nationality, who is not:

- US Citizens / Permanent Residents (and their dependents),
- Anyone invited by the US Government for a purpose related to containment or mitigation of the virus
- Foreign crew members on crew visas
- Foreign government officials (Diplomatic Visas) and UN/International Organizations Officials (Official and Diplomatic Visas) but not their domestic employees.
- NATO Personnel

So, even though there are some clear exceptions, a lot of people not intending to visit the US but only transiting to a third country will be affected.

I agree with that. I was merely trying to be more precise. With Delta now cancelling all flights to ConEurope, it is now even closer to a ban of course but nonetheless, even now it is still not a ban.

Hello Folks,
We will continue deleting off topic and political discussions. If it doesn't stop on this thread or any other COVID-19 thread we will eventually be forced to close the thread.

Please be respectful of each other, keep it focused on the thread topics, which many find useful.

Thanks,
