DL Upgrade Single Segment

Mods please feel free to move if this thread already exists.

Is it possible to do a cash upgrade on DL for just one segment? To either C+ or F? On their website they only give me the option of doing the entire trip. I usually fly UA and the website let's you upgrade on a segment by segment basis.

Last week I upgraded only my return flight home without any issue or requirement to also upgrade my departure flight the beginning of this week.

Was this on the website or did you have to call in?

Try going to the seat map and selecting the C+ or F seat you want on the flight you want. See if it gives you a price

Yes, each flight has its own price. You can choose just one segment online.

I am assuming this is post booking? As the price they give me during booking is to upgrade all segments

Correct. Single segments can be upgraded as part of FCM, but F at booking is generally for the whole leg outside of some wonky circumstances.

I used the iPhone app to do it, but I could also have done it online as noted by others

If there are no FCM offers, you will need to upgrade fare which will upgrade all flights on same fare component.

I realize OP asked about upgrading one segment. If you want to upgrade in one direction of your trip (e.g., return) you can generally select, for example, the a main cabin seat for your outbound and the a first seat for your return at the time of booking (though it would apply to all flights in that direction). Otherwise, if it is one segment in one direction of your travel, I would do what other suggested and select from the seat map after booking.
