MQD posting date for seat upgrade

MQD posting date for seat upgrade
I have an upcoming flight in January and I paid for seat upgrades. I notice that my MQD for 2019 changed. Is there a way to have it counted for 2020 instead of 2019? I always thought it counts when you fly but I guess not for the seat upgrade.

I believe paid seat upgrades are non-refundable so can see some logic that MQD's for these get counted when paid.

Are you certain that the seat upgrade MQD posted "early"? Do you see an entry for this in your activity history?
Generally there is a separate item for the RDM and MQD for the seat upgrade that posts after you fly.

These are for preferred seat.
