Certainly this thread has a slight air of elitism about it. I’m catching a whiff of class struggle that permeates the American society and really shows up in places where economics creates division. Concerning the poster TheHorta while I find him generally hilarious and that sometimes he can “pet the cat backwards” (as we like to say in our parts of the Swamp) he is actually truly elite status but I always have sensed a certain pirate (or arms dealer) mind set that tomorrow it could all be gone and so what... Concerning the queu to the lavatories I myself always make it a point to “crop dust” those in first on my way to the back of the plane...when I sit in first I’m assuming that everyone else is doing the same and aim my air dispenser accordingly.. |

As far as this thread is concerned, I have witnessed a blatant disregard for the closed "curtain" between first and the rest of the cabin. I have seen it from both sides of the curtain and it is a sad reminder that some people have no civility. I am not just talking about sneaking by it, but literally flinging it up in the air as they make their entrance. How extremely rude and disrespectful to the FA and those of us respecting societal norms. People like this are the reason the FA make so called "elitist" announcements, and draw a hard line. If people could be courteous and respectful, it would be easier for FA to make exceptions using common sense. This whole thread is yet another example of why we can't have nice things. |

I remember a specific flight from RIC-LGA where I was sitting in 1A (F, probably upgraded but I don't remember exactly). We sat on the runway for 20 minutes or so waiting for clearance to take off due to timing into NYC airspace. I tried to follow the rules and wait for the seatbelt sign to go off before getting up to use the lav. Unfortunately, I didn't realize I was on a CR7 and not a CR9; the former doesn't have a forward lav. By the time service finished and the cart wasn't blocking the aisle anymore, we were on approach and the seatbelt sign was back on. I've never been more relieved to make it into a terminal than after that flight. |

Not everyone can hold it and the airlines don’t always have their aircraft setup to realistically expect everyone to use the lav in their cabin, especially when the FAs have carts blocking the aisle for 20-30 min or more. There’s also nothing special about the lavs in domestic F. Passengers in Int’l J/F have a case where the lavs do come with increased amenities (and sometimes more space too). On today’s flight, I used the F lav despite being seated in C+. Flight had been fairly bumpy. We finally hit some smooth air though we were told to expect more bumps as we made our way to ATL. The Y lavs filled up quickly with lines m. No one was in the F lav. I went and used it so that I would minimize the amount I was out of my seat unbelted and prevent myself from being told to return to my seat if I was waiting in the back and we hit turbulence again.

On AUS-SEA flight (739ER), the flight attendants allowed Y passengers to use the F lav when the service cart was in the aisle. Once the aisle was clear, the FA's started sending Y passengers to the Y lavs. Seems like a reasonable policy.

It could well be that the OP's FA may have also allowed the same on her/his good day. Most FA's are reasonable and fine to deal with, but some can be moody. |
Everyone has a bladder that eventually needs to be emptied. I have never felt any animosity towards a coach passenger using an F restroom. If you care about such things then I feel sorry for you. |
