boston and new england storm
I'm kind of surprised with the weather sat into sunday that delta hasn't issued a winter waiver for places like boston? Atleast 4 other airlines have already done so.

Delta's weather alerts, as of Thurs at 3pm Eastern on 1/17 extends from South Dakota to Ohio, and applies to flights on Fri and Sat. Here in Pittsburgh, the local weather folks say the bad stuff is not supposed to hit until Saturday night. Boston may be impacted by Sunday.

Yes exactly. They will definitely be impacted. This doesn't seem to be a hard to call forecast. My question is why haven't they issued one for the northeast. they should

I don't know why they haven't issued one; my guess is that they think people like me will just pay the $200 change fee to get out of town before the storm. American which also flies the same route issued the waiver earlier today. Very annoying.

Delta is usually very good with their waivers and tends to be much better than the other airlines at predicting weather impacts. Possibly they think the forecast could change? Frustrating I know when you are trying to avoid a storm.

sometimes they are better. I can recall them squeezing extra flights in and out of Puerto rico during the hurricane. However I also remember when i got stranded at ORD when they totally blew the ATL summer storm. I'll be super pissed if I'm stranded at the airport sunday knowing all the other airlines issued waivers today.

None of the four major carriers are putting a travel advisory (at least as of right now) out for Detroit. The rest have pushed it further east, but none have went north up to Detroit. While the fact it's a hub may factor into it some, with none of the other carriers issuing a travel advisory for Detroit I doubt Delta will put one in unless the track moves to make it clear Detroit will get bad winter weather.

It is still uncertain for the path of this storm (for the east side.
But, from my understanding, it will past south of Detroit.
