I've been wondering whether "song of their people" means howling, perhaps country music, or someone's idea of what songs were sung (how would we know?) by the early cavepeople and hunter gatherers who first domesticated dogs.

On the topic of songs, allow me to ask about one of the great mysteries of life: why does the hold music on the Diamond line include someone saying "ONE DOLLAR NINETY POINT FOUR TWO" at the peak of one of the songs? That doesn't even make any sense - it's not a real value!
