Engine fire at MCi


This is on the new here in KC. Not a lot of info on it yet It was a flight from DTW

For the curious, FlightStats is reporting the aircraft was a 717, tail number N986AT, based on the flight number in the news report. I have no additional confirmation of that beyond ten seconds of Googling... but it does look like a 717 in the screenshot above.

Flight is DL923. Good thing Delta has an extra 717 that's been sitting at MCI for 2 days to sub in for the return DL923 to DTW, although it is delayed 3.5 hours..

It was definitely N986AT, as KMBC Channel 9 news showed a close up view of the aircraft via their helicopter at 6 p.m. local time.
