I think OP wants to be treated as a top level elite on every Sky Team airline, and does not fully understand the different between airline elite status and airline alliance status. The only way to have an experience approximating alliance wide top level status without having status on each airline is to buy premium cabin tickets.

Although I can see why some people would get frustrated- sometimes it does feel like Delta brands themselves as being very deeply in bed with AF/KLM, setting the expectation that they're more than just alliance partners.

They are more than just alliance partners, they have a joint venture.

True. And, they are still different companies who reward their own loyal customers with a higher level of priority than the customers of the join venture partner. This is reasonable. Presumably, if op-ups needed to happen on a AF flight, the OP would get one before a DL DM.
