OP is probably (almost certainly) getting a cheaper ticket because of this segment being coach and not F, so from that perspective, OP should not be entitled to a premium seat on the first leg. That being said, I do think its possible that if you called DL they would place you in a preferred seat. I don't think they will give you C+ for free. That being said, I'm surprised the ticket does not atomically get priced out as a W on the RJ segment.
