Non-elite, bought up to F on second leg. Free checked bag allowance?
I’m a non-elite who was booked DCA-ATL-SMF. I have bought up to first class on the ATL-SMF leg, but not DCA-ATL. Would I be able to check bags at DCA and pay nothing?

I’m on an award ticket, if that makes any difference, but paid for the F seat upgrade via the app.

You will get the first class baggage allowance as at least 1 leg is in first class on the same ticket.

This is correct, you will get 2 free checked bags w priority tags for the ATL-SMF leg being in F. DL is generous and will give you F baggage allowance for your journey even if your first leg isn't in F.

FYI: You will also get SKY boarding on the DCA-ATL leg.

Can confirm now - checkin opened and it does show two free bags from DCA. Thanks!
