GUC - seat taken back after boarding, what to do about next segment

As an update in case anyone else is trying to research for their own situation:
1) the GUC closed sometime after I arrived in SIN. So it did in fact end up using the certificate but i couldn't tell that until after the fact.
2) As someone else stated, the service for the NRT-SIN leg is not the same as other flights. For instance, the main meal service is a single tray served all at once, compared with the multi-course setup you'd get on SEA-NRT for instance. So beyond the actual length of the flight, the "value" isn't the same as other flights would be.
I'll definitely be calling when I get back.
