Seattle to JFK red-eye no longer lieflat Oct onwards?

I'm looking for flights October onwards, and Seattle to JFK redeye no longer show lie-flat seats anymore?

This was being sold as lie-flat till a few days ago. What is delta's policy if they change equipment on a redeye from lie-flat to recliner - can you cancel for refund?

Some days in October still show lie-flats on the redeye. I didn't check enough dates to establish if it's a day-of-week pattern.

Technically no, because they don't sell it as Delta One, they sell it as domestic first class, and lay flats are not a domestic first amenity, they just happen to be available sometimes. Onboard amenities are subject to change. That being said, you may have luck if you call in and ask.

I think you'd have a hard time getting a refund. You would probably have a decent chance of switching to SEA-SFO/LAX-JFK where you would have a lie-flat. Of course, your trip would take quite a bit longer.

$1000 voucher sounds great. I wonder if that's standard procedure tho. You linked to this thread

Shoot - just corrected. Thanks for the heads up. Hard to tell if that's normal .. obviously even at $1K it's likely to be short of a refund for somebody who paid for it (not me)

I've taken that flight 4-5x a year for the past few years; typically it's been offered at ~$800 as opposed to the 320/738/739/757 options over SLC/MSP/DTW/CVG/ATL that have ranged from $360-$1400; note also that the $1000 was for a day-of-flight (or maybe T-24 hrs) tail swap

DL does add a surcharge for F fares that include lie-flat equipment (it is priced into your fare at time of purchase), so it is not unreasonable to ask for some type of refund. It's $75 extra for a lie-flat 757 and $100 for a lie-flat 767 each way (there are surcharges for other equipment as well up to $150 for a 747).

Good point. Probably a non issue for business travelers fortunate enough to travel on a Y / refundable anyways

You would be due a refund for this at a minimum. I would suspect if you called, they would likely switch your flight or provide a voucher that exceeds this amount (though not by a lot) so don't go in with unreasonable expectations.

the situation described in that thread made very little sense, it was almost certainly several different screwups that happened to coincide and I wouldn't assume that it represents any sort of precedent.
