Complementary upgrades

I posted this over in the upgrade success thread but received no response, so hoping someone could chime in here and possibly explain the complimentary upgrade procedure

I am new to deltas status and its complementary upgrades. Today on my outbound flight, I was #1 out of four for upgrades as per the delta app. At T-40 upgrades cleared. However, I was upgraded to C+ and #2 and #3 on the list were upgraded to FC. When I seen the upgrade clear, it said on the upgrade screen status=
First.
Seat 06D
zone Prem.

However 06D was a C+ seat.

This was on a CR9 regional.

Is the list of names on the upgrade page not in order of status/priority? It seams like the system thought 6D was a FC seat and upgraded me thinking it was upgrading me to FC?

Did you say anything to the GA when this happened?

There have been reports here that if you're upgraded to C+ at the gate, you come off the list for F upgrades. That sounds like what happened here . I agree with MSPEconomist--did you talk to the GA when it happened? Sometimes, they can fix the mistake.

I did not as this was the first time I flew with any status so I did not know exactly how the complementary upgrades worked. I saw the seat change on the app and I knew that when I scanned the boarding pass from my phone, it would print out my seat change. This I did know :P

What status do you have? It would only say Prem for zone if you are a diamond, or are in first. A C+ seat should normally have SKY for the zone.
Or if you were upgraded and manually assigned to a non-first seat...

Yes the app should have it ordered by upgrade priority ranking.

I think there is a glitch that when you are UGd to F you are taken off the F UG list. I would have talked to the agent and they would have fixed it as you were due a F seat. GAs should always clear the F List before the C+ list as often more C+ seats will come open after the GA UGs PAX to F. I'd complain to DL and you may get some miles thrown your way.

I just made silver.

Today when I logged into the delta website and reviewed my itinerary
It says DL 5595 Upgraded To First/Business Class.

DL 2485 Upgrade Requested First Class- Did not get upgraded. I was 34 out of 37.

it also says 6D
(RU)
for my seat assignment for the flight that I was upgraded on.

I've had a C+ upgrade (into one of the seats that's normally blocked for special needs passengers) clear on my way to the airport, when the flight would have been under airport control, and then received a FC upgrade as #1 on the upgrade waitlist at the gate with no problems. This would have been about a half year ago.

Was the C+ UG at the Gate. I don't know why GAs clear C+ UGs before FC UGs as more C+ seats typically come open once other PAX are UGd to FC as a medallion who is low on the F UG list may be UGd to a C+ middle seat before the agent clears the F UG list when someone in a aisle FC seat was UGd to F and a aisle seat comes open afterwords and probably goes to a Non-Rev.

That's why GAs like to clear C+ upgrades before FC upgrades.

I've seen the same thing on LAX to OAK flight couple of weeks ago.

I was on SDS, so I just got my 5C in C+ and my name never showed up in the upgrade list. But first class upgrade list showed folks as upgraded to F, PREM zone, seats in 6th and 7th rows.

Should GAs know the seating configurations of flights they're handling? And, on a more basic level, shouldn't every GA know that a CRJ-900 doesn't have six or seven rows of FC seats?

It looked more like a glitch, my seat was shown as C+, but trusting the screen I still had couple rows of first class behind me.

I saw this bug today (actually took a screenshot). 3 F seats available, all 3 UGed at T-40. Once that happened, 3 more people on the list got UGed to the vacated C+ seats but the app showed them as being given a FC UG (PREM zone, etc), but their seat assignments were clearly in C+.

Seems confusing.
