Compensation

So last Thursday had a 6:45am flight out of SNA (John Wayne,Orange County) as most of you know, all the planes depart the gate at 6:45am for 7am Take off do to noise...........

1st out of the gate and to the run way, at 7am, we roll over the run way and sit, 15 min later pilot tells us they gave us to much gas and we need to burn fuel. Burn fuel for 30 min and then he tells us we still have a issue so back to the gate. (Missed connection in MSP by this time) Have to kick 7 peeps of plane, for $800 per person. 45 min later we roll back out to the runway. Roll over the run way and burn fuel for another 30 min before takeoff........Get to MSP and I am on the next flight out of MSP but, now have to fly coach becuase no room in 1st class. I was on a 1st class ticket.......

I have been Gold for 12 years on Delta, call the elite line and all they give me is a $200 ecredit and have me call the refund line for difference in $$$ between 1st & Coach out of MSP....

I don't feel this is near enough, it was not a mechanical or weather delay it was a weight issue on Delta's part

The $200 voucher plus fare difference is completely standard for class of service downgrade.

As for your inconvenience with the missed connection and sitting on the runway, I would submit a concise, polite complaint online. I'd guess around 10,000 SkyMiles.

Um, both mechanical and especially weather effect w/b. If the route became longer (or now into a strong headwind, etc. .) they have to have more fuel, which means less passengers.

You got what they give for downgrades.

Yeah this is pretty standard. Although once my connection was blown, I'd have probably been the first one off the plane for $800.

The $200 seems more than fair. Maybe you could by a spell-checker with it !

Seems like you can't afford one.

That priceless moment when you make a typo in your own post criticizing someone's spelling...

Seems like a fare criticism.

That... doesn't make sense. If you have "too much" fuel then offloading pax is going to make the problem worse, not better.

The $200 is generous. They should refund you the fare difference... but that's about it. I'd be thankful, understand that delays are part of flying, and move on.

What? Fuel and passengers both weigh more than zero... It's not like offloading passengers makes the plane heavier.
