1. OP never said they deserved it
2. Apparently, OP was upgraded last time OP flew Delta

Fortune has seldom favored you, is it?

It happens sometimes that people get upgraded for no obvious reason to them. Delta seems to have set that expectation from the OP's past experience.

Because he wants to move his crying baby out of crowded coach, since there's less passengers to bother in first.

it's a win win for most and only a few lose

Except those few "losers" are on average DL's best customers, either high level FFers or those who have purchased FC tickets.

my baby's taking his 7 flights so he's "used" to it, he doesn't cry that much

I was wondering if they would leave free space in FC of give them away, i got my response

thanks

Extremely unlikely to have open seats in F... DL will offer paid upgrades in advance, upgrade their elite flyers, and offer discounted upgrades on day of departure check-in at the kiosks... then after clearing any remaining elites on the airport upgrade list, they will place non-rev (airline employees flying standby) in F.

If after all that happens there are any seats left, they will fly with them empty.

If Y is oversold and there are leftover seats in F, then they will op-up people from coach into first...

Excellent, enjoy your flight.

If you do manage another upgrade, slap your forehead. You should have bought the lottery instead.

The OP has had their question answered so I am closing this one down.
