Can you access SkyClub without seat assignment

And more to the point, how many non-employee people have physical access to the sterile area? The only ways I'm aware is to either be an Admirals Club member with a declared business purpose, or holding a gate pass to do something like escort a minor.

I'm sorry but that's not been the case with me. I've flown many E-Fares and I've been able to pick my seat at check-in. Both via the app and via the kiosk at the airport. I too have a Delta Amex and I still get Zone 1 boarding.

From Delta's website: "With Basic Economy, you will not receive a seat assignment until after check-in or at the gate." Maybe I've been lucky with my seats on Basic Economy?
