Flight delayed snacks at gate. Is this new?
Was at DTW over the week and the flight was delayed. Usually they bring out individual snacks, but got this this time. Is this new? Seems like its the regular snack boxes you can buy on the flight just packaged differently.

I got one of those in early Feb for a 5+ hour delay. One of our resident DL insiders can probably confirm, but they likely replace the pizza/sandwiches that were previously provided for lengthy gate delays.
IIRC, it contained something like the following:
It was probably 600-700 calories of shelf stable food.

- Almonds
- Chocolate(?)

I'm starting to realize how fortunate I am - I have never had a delay that warranted the snack carts, boxes, or pizza at a gate. The most I've had was a bottle of water and a basket of hard candies in baggage claim when there was a delay delivering bags.

Are meal vouchers ever given anymore? I think the last time I got one was about 4 years ago, when my flight delay caused me to miss my first class connection, and the next flight, also in first, was a redeye with no meals.
