I fly almost exclusively Emirates economy about 8 times a year (Manchester to Africa and far east mainly) and over on the emirates board there is often disparaging comments about US carriers. I've just come over to vegas for a conference and as I was paying my own way I went for the cheapest flight which was a KLM ticket MAN SLC LAS LAX CDG MAN. I was worried when I realises that the AMS SLC leg was delta adter things I had heard but i was really impressed. More frequent food and drinks than Emirates, leg room was fine (but I am short!), entertainment was Ok. Only things I really missed were my priority boarding, bigger luggage allowance (emirates is 30 as standard and I get an extra 12) and loung access. I would definitely do this again as the price was incredible (half the BA price and not much longer routing) and the quality was way better than I expected.

Pity ground staff at LAS were rude and unhelpful.
