Transiting through US
My apologies in advance if this is a noobish question. I've flown in and out of the US countless times, but I've never actually flown between two non-US countries with the US as an intermediary.
On Monday I'm flying DUS-ATL-BOG and wondering what the transfer experience is like in ATL for this itinerary. Do I have to do the whole collect and recheck bags, immigrate into the US, and then promptly immigrate out again? Or what?
Thanks very much for your help!

You go through immigration, walk through customs, and proceed to security and departure gate. No baggage collection as long as the agent in DUS attaches the purple (or lately orange) ITI Tag.

I'm happy to hear that I shouldn't have to recheck bags. Hopefully that'll give me enough time for a Sky Club shower and Bloody Mary
