How often does DL oversell/overbook F?
Per an old thread (and comments in recent threads):
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta...t-class-4.html
how often does DL put itself in an oversold / overbooked situation with-regards-to F, these days?

I have been told multiple times by DL employees that F is never to be oversold. I am sure things happen , but it is the exception, not the rule. YMMV

About two years ago I got a call asking if I would switch off of an ATL-SEA flight in exchange for a voucher. I was flying in paid FC and the agent said that the flight was oversold in first. This was a few weeks before departure.
There wasn't an equipment change or anything, so I'm not sure what the deal was. I ended up declining, since I wanted a chance to fly on a 752 with the old BE seats before it got modded into a 75S. Plus I wasn't feeling a connection through MSP in the middle of winter, with the threat of IRROPS and all.
In the end there was no sign of issues at the gate, and FC boarded full. Maybe it was a mistake, or they got other people to switch flights.

DL doesn't overbook its premium cabins, but the rare oversell happens, from a multitude of reasons (namely equipment changes).
If you're booked in First Class and DL is unable to accommodate you, you're entitled to the difference between F & Y as well as a voucher that automatically upgrades any domestic flight, regardless of booking class. (Note that since most people reach First Class through upgrades or discounted tickets, the Y ticket is deemed higher and no financial compensation is awarded; however, you'll walk away with some Delta Dollars).
